Identifying 911SC Rear Torsion Bars While In The Car

1982SC

I am planning a complete suspension refresh and trying to determine what is already on the car. The PO told me that when he bought it, it had "race suspension" but provided no documentation. The car is about as low as it will go (and I like that) and it has 17" wheels. Turbo Tie-Rods were previously installed. It's clear that the swing plates were replaced, as they are Sway-A-Way. The rear Bilsteins and front Bilstein inserts definitely need to be replaced. It doesn't look like a bump steer kit was ever installed (definitely not a race kit, and it doesn't look like a steering rack spacer kit is there).

I'm trying to determine what rear torsion bars are on it, but there are limited markings on the bar ends. They have the expected "L" and "R" and the R side has what appears to be a small VW mark. Which leads me to believe they may be the stock 24.1 rods. Check the pics below. Any idea how to determine what I've got without tearing everything apart?

Usually the diameter in mm is stamped there, I know it is on my SC. And mine has no “VW” logo on it. Mine are not stock, but I don’t know that the VW indicates they are either.

I'm in the middle of a complete suspension refresh and my rear TB's are exactly the same as yours Ethan. Mine are stock, it appears yours are too.

That’s what I was afraid of! Thanks! Just more things added to the list. So glad the car has “race suspension” hahahah

One of the lengths of VW bars fits 911s. But you really need to pull the bar and measure. I'd do that before ordering something else.
