Help Identify this top please...
So I bought this hardtop in NYC for 600$ it was in the attic of a 4 story building that was being demolished. I thought it would fit my 56' 356 Speedster but I was way off. I cannot figure out what year or vehicle this hardtop is from!? If anyone knows...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1614466894.jpg

How do I sell it?
|
356 registry. Not sure but they may be a subscription service now. Be advised they are mostly a bunch of crusty old wankers.
If you are a member of the PCA, you can advertise in the club magazine. You can put some insane price like $10K and then follow it up with or "Best Offer". Maybe someone in the local club would be willing to help evaluate it. Or can hook you up with a few local drop top 356A members. It would be pricey to ship. So make sure any asking price is FOB your location. Good luck, great find. |

Guys you are all awesome... Thanks for all your help.. I owe you guys a beer, or wine...or tea!

Can't hurt to list is in the 356 classified section here on Pelican.

That is NOT a 356 hardtop, A or otherwise. Rear glass is too big and side glass is wrong shape. The B pillar on a 356 top is much heavier. Those are definitely NOT 356 latches or pop-out window levers. Not sure what it is. Looks vaguely familiar but I can't place it. Kind of a pretty top. It does look very much like a Reutter product, and almost like a 356 top. Were there ever hardtops for Karmann Ghias?

Since Porsche put part #s on dang near everything. I would suggest trying to look for one.

Try this, OP, as I did when my nosiness/curiosity overwhelmed my common sense as to not spending time on someone else's problem instead of the seemingly insurmountable mountain of my problems.
Viola'... I spent 2 minutes googling european car factory hardtops. First came a Bay M Vay 507 (way cool). Nope, Wrong, totally off. Then I typed in "Renault Caravelle factory hardtop", 'cuz I always liked them aesthetically. Now that looks closer by a bunch. I'm still not 100% certain, but at least you get the idea if you still shive a git about it. Now if I'm correct, where do I go to collect the prize money ?? :) |
Peter, I think you've nailed it. Renault Caravelle sure appears to be it. Like you, it piqued my curiosity and its been bugging me for 3 days that I couldn't place that top.
Thanks, DG |

They gotta be on the Web somewhere, just use their acronym, the first letter of each word in the title, it'll pop right up. |
