901/11 transmission/clutch problem

Hi All,
I'm at the end of a five year restoration of a 911T. With the warmer weather coming up here in Sweden I was looking forward to start up and break in of my restored engine.

When adjusting the clutch wire I notice I've got problems engaging the gear or clutch. If I get it into any gear I would not be able to turn the wheels, right?

Nothing is finally set as everything has been apart so maybe the clutch is not properly adjusted? I have set it to 20 mm free play at the pedal and made sure the cable housing runs in the guide bracket the proper way.

Where do I start looking? If the clutch wire is not adjusted properly the clutch should be engaged at all times right? I have slackened the wire as well but can still turn the wheels (when transmission is in gear).

I have just put the engine in but not filled it up with oil yet. I would try to avoid taking the engine out again. I have a really small garage...

I'm positive I have the right clutch, pressure plate and clutch release bearing.

What can I do to find the problem?

Appreciate all your help!

When i turn one wheel, the other turns. Should i have one of the wheels on the ground to make any assumptions? I'm getting a boroscope the upcoming week and thought about looking into the drive shaft/clutch when turning.

How should a proper setup look? When in gear the drive shaft should turn I assume. When not in gear it should not. And do I have to lock up one of the wheels or doesn't that matter?

You need to block one wheel with an open diff, as you guessed.

Thanks for your input. I guess the easiest way would be to put it on the ground (now on dollys) and see if I can move it when in gear, in neutral and with the clutch depressed.
