Carburetor Questions
Two questions about carbs from a newbie (please forgive my ignorance)...
1. Are Solex and Mikuni the same company? 2. Will Solex carbs and manifolds work on a 2.7? Looks like I've found a good deal that I may want to play with if someone can give me some insight, especially on the second question. I think I read somewhere on this board about a guy who put either Solexes or Zeniths on his 3.0. I'm not building a performance monster, I'm just tinkering with different things. Thanks to anyone who can help...

Thanks!

Sorry Matt, I personally have never heard of solexes on any 911 engine. I suppose anything can be done if you try hard enough, but why not just get a set of webers?
Pretty sure Mikuni and Solex are not related. Good luck

Solex carbs were used on some early 911s (65-66). Mikunis weren't. Solex parts (jets and stuff) may be harder to get than Webers.
Try to stick w/Webers; more parts, more users, more info. Sherwood Lee http://members.rennlist.org/911pcars |

Matt,
solex manufactured the zenith carbs for porsche. I'm thinking like you in that I want my 2.7 to be normally aspirated from my webers. I have been told that to get the performance from the carbs I need to change the cams, pistons and cylinders. and that is where it get's spendy. but I'm a newbie too. so far my 2.7 CIS runs strong, but my end goal is to have one carb'd 911 and one injected.... is that too much to ask? |
