2 in 1 out vs 2 in 2 out muffler
I am sure there were plenty threads about this topic, but I am excited to contribute...I picked up a sport muffler that I will install tomorrow, to replace my 2 in 1 out OEM muffler.
I will record the sound of the old muffler and compare with the new. This should be fun. The muffler I picked up is the same as my original, but with the sport modification that many have done. At least I will still have my original if it is too damn loud ![]() ![]() ![]()

There cannot be too many exhaust sound comparison threads.
![]() Thank you for starting another. I’m still waiting for the definitive SCART sound thread. Currently I think the M&K 2 in 1 out is THE definitive flat six sound for a 3.2... Looking forward to the results.

The 2 in 1 out wins for sound hands down, but there is more power with 2 in 2 out. Is what it is.

And here we go:
Straight pipes no muffler (very bad for the neighbors). 2 in 2 out. Louder for sure but not excessively obnoxious. Love it so far.

I went the 2x2 route a couple of years ago and love it.

I've had both the 2X1 and the 2X2 on my 78SC with SSI's and M&K muffler
The 2X1 sounds real nice with no drone. The 2X2 has some drone in low to mid rpm's.....but it literally screams above the drone area. For my money...2X2 and keep the engine rpm's over the drone rpms.

Like the sound of your 2in 1out..hope my dansk 2 in 1
Will sound the same with SSI's 3.0 dansk 60 mm tip though. You think it will be somewhat same sound? |

The 2 in 1 out is more throaty and sounds nicer at idle, but it is too quiet when you step on it. The 2 in 2 out really screams at higher rpms, which I really like. It is also quiet enough in fifth gear on the highway. Actually, I may use the fifth gear more often for that reason.
I will also test the option of blocking one outlet with a baffle. I have to remember to save the tomato paste can next time we make pasta ![]()
