89 3.2 valve Cover

Got my first 3.2 from my old 964. Any recommended valve cover to replace the factory one? I heard the Turbo Valve cover is the way to go.

Also updating the oil Cooler. Does anyone have experience with CFS Oil Coolers: Worth it, performs better?

Not sure what you mean by that, I think the 964 had a 3.6.

From the title of your post it seems you have a 1989 911.... I believe that all 911s since 1980 have the Turbo valve covers.

I suspect you already have Turbo valve covers.

Are you having leaks or other issues with your valve covers? If so, search on the forum for steps you can take to address these issues. You probably don't need new valve covers.

See the image below for an example of a turbo valve cover. If your lower valve covers look like that, then you already have Turbo valve covers. Note that the Turbo valve cover is only the lower cover, the upper cover is smooth and the same on all Turbo and non-turbo cars.

Tell us about your car and your intended use.

If your primary use is street driving then the factory oil cooler is more than sufficient and I would not bother changing to an aftermarket cooler.

Thank you, yes street use only. Just to clarify the car is 89 3.2. saw sone seeping around the covers and read somewhere that factory covers tend to leak after a while and most people upgrade them to after-market.

Cool

Your valve covers are probably fine. If they are not leaking so much as to cause oil spots on your driveway, then I would not worry about it until your next valve adjustment.

On your next valve adjustment you can check the valve covers for flatness and put in new gaskets stop the leaking.

If they are leaking alot, then pull the valve covers now, check them and replace the gaskets.

Re valve cover gaskets. I've had the best results so far using the gaskets with a silicon bead on them. Victor Reinz IIRC. And I can reuse them several times without leaking.

avahdani -- what's your motivation for contemplating changing you '89's oil cooler? Stock for an '89 SHOULD be plenty for a 3.2 with AC . Are you seeing high oil temps?
