Grafting G Body Bumper Extensions onto F Body Rear Bumper

Has anyone grafted a G Body Rear Bumper Extension on an F Body rear bumper to fit SC Flares?

Basically, I have a 72 that I put SC flares on. Now I need to make the 72 bumper transition to the SC flare.

I did find some 72 bumpers that were supposedly modified to fit SC flares but as you can see from the below pics they are far from it.

I'm thinking I can get some SC extensions and but weld them with some fab work I'm sure to make a good transition.

Thanks,

Rodney

Find yourself an RS bumper and be done with it or fabricate a longer piece to the bumper pieces. I think a longhood bumper with extensions grafted in wouldn’t look very good and not worth the effort.

I am interested in doing the rear bumpers in metal. One reason is from what I have seen so far all of the one piece fiberglass rear bumpers need to be cut and re-glassed to make them fit properly. I would rather just do the metal work on the bumpers I have.

It will definitely need to be done carefully to make it look right. It is hard to fab the curves of the wheel arch but easy to fab the transition of the extension to bumper.

Has anyone seen the be done or heard of anyone doing it?

im going to be doing exactly this shortly. Our car is an SC.I have some SWB bumpers.I bought another bad condition pair to use as donor sections.
I will cut out a section, and slightly flair it, (English wheel/strinker) and insert into last "flared" section of bumper. As long as it looks right. Its right!

SC extension on early bumpers I made for my old speedster project and Turbo extensions on a friend's '69 wide body job. All metal. Center section of a front bumper to fill the gap in the middle.

HI John,

Thanks for sharing. What you did looks great. I want to keep the original bumper look, based on what you did, do you think it is possible to do what I'm thinking? I'm thinking the top part might be easier than the bottom...

Thanks,

Rodney
