how to tell the difference from ARP and factory head studs?
I just received my rebuilt 3.0 . I paid for ARP head studs to be installed .When I looked at the motor it had black studs that run down the side of the barrels and some kind of hex head or allen type bolt that is goldish in color that you can see through the fins of the head near the top of the head.
I wanted to make sure that I got what I payed for so I called ARP and they told me that there studs for the 911 was stainless steel (silver in color) not black. And had a black 12 point nut on the end (head area) . Did I get screwed or am I looking in the wrong area? I can send pics of what I'm looking at if someone can help me. Thanks Rick |
Sounds like the wrong ones to me. Got pix?

I thought ARP (and Raceware) had their initials or logo on the end of each stud.

Check you wallet. If they were ARP's, your wallet would be a lot lighter.

I can post pics tonight.
I could not see if there was a ARP logo on the end because it was already installed on the motor. My wallet is a lot lighter, But I did not get to see the item, the money went to the wrench and he claims that he bought them and installed them. |
I couldn't resist my wallet remark, sorry about that. Did you beef up your 3.0L? I was wondering why you went with the ARP's and not the stock steel ones. I looked on the ARP websites and they appear to be black in color. I have never held an APR head stud in my hand but I am sure that someone on the board has and may be able to help. Did your rebuilder give you receipts with APR pn#'s? I have a used dilivar stud in my office and it has a line with two small hash marks through the line on the nut end of the stud (as best I can tell without a magnifying glass).
