Stomski Racing engine mounts
Installed new engine mounts from Stomski Racing today in my 1985 911. Very nice, high quality pieces; the sleeve was perfectly fitted to the urethane bushings, which fit perfectly into the cool anodized aluminum body. They came with urethane bushings in three different durometer ratings, so you can choose from mild (yellow) to spicy (red) to ludicrous (black) modes. I chose to start with mild ones, then to work my way up if desired. They are really easy to swap out, so you can tune them. The old mounts looked surprisingly good, which means they had been replaced in the not too distant past.
I had previously installed the Stomski coupler when I installed a WEVO shifter, so much, but not all, of the shift improvements I was searching for were already in the bag. But the car still resisted both upshifts and downshifts into second while pulling high revs, because of the torquing effect of the engine heeling over from spinning that hard. Adding the Stomski engine mounts made a noticeable improvement on the second gear problem, and all the other shift transactions are as good as I've felt in a 915 box. The same pieces, btw, also serve as transmission mount, and I have not yet replaced those in my car, so I'm hoping to get still more improvement. Overall, a pretty easy hour or so to put these in. The only improvement I would suggest to Stomski would be to include new fastener hardware in the kit. Since the mounts in my car had a hodgepodge of fasteners, I bought a set of black cap screws, and re-used the original bolt that attaches the engine cradle. |

Any added vibration with the yellows?
