Trying to solve some mysteries in my engine bay

Hi All, I recently found the battery in my 1987 Carrera cabriolet drained after not driving for 2 weeks. I bought a trickle charger and got the car running again, but it got me looking around the engine bay more closely. I'm hoping the community here can help me figure out a few things. Questions refer to the attached pictures. Thanks in advance for your help with these mysteries--I'm a total novice, so very much appreciate it!

1. Should the connector marked 'A' be connected to anything?

2. Is the black thing marked 'B' part of a connector? If so, should anything be plugged in there?

3. Should the thing marked 'C' at the end of the yellow wire be connected to anything?

4. Should anything be connected to the tab marked 'D?'

5. Is it normal that the tolerance between the fan shroud and this pulley ('E') is so tight?

"A" is your for your compressor clutch. It should connect to a wire that is running along underneath your oil filter. Does it fit into "C"
"B" is just a cable guide to keep your wires tidy.
'D" I don't know. Looks like another cable guide.
"E" Its fine nothing to worry about.

D is the plug wire support to right side
Generally not used.

Thanks so much for the information. I connected 'A' to 'C,' and now the middle piece (with the NipponDenso label) spins when I turn on the AC. Before it didn't spin with AC on or off. I'm assuming this is the compressor?

The outside pulley and belt spin no matter what--AC on or off. Is this the correct behavior for everything in this part of the system?

The other question is, why was it disconnected. Are there functional reasons someone would leave this disconnected?

the wire was most likely forgotten by a mechanic -it happens sometimes..yes the compressor pulley spins before you put the switch on which will engage the clutch to make to compressor pumping freon through the system.
..For you i would suggest..get some books about your 911..get a little familiar with it-you will love reading it
