sound upgrade for 911 3.2?
Hi everyone - need some advice please - I’m owning a 1984 911 3.2 and using as fun car and I really want a better sounding exhaust - I have a Dansk cat bypass and the rest is original - any body out there who could recommend any sound upgrade?

Equal length heat exchangers. Dansk makes the SSIs now. Almost as good as headers but you keep the heat. Dual inlet muffler also made by Dansk. I prefer the single outlet as the duals tend to drone at around 3K RPMS. If you DO go with dual outlets, one side can be capped for long drives.
If you are a DIYer, read up on removal techniques on the exhaust bolts. They can snap very easily if nut properly prepared for removal.

I've tried A LOT of pre-muffler and sport muffler permutations.
The configuration I liked the best is Dansk pre-muffler and 84mm Dansk Sport Muffler paired with a Steve Wong tune / chip. Couple things: Do yourself a favor and get a Steve Wong tune / chip that matches your exhaust configuration. I have done this twice now (and about to do it a third time) and both times the car sounded noticeably better with just the tune / chip. It's a big deal. I'm going with M&K headers + 2 in / 1 out on one car and M&K headers w/o heat + a valved GT3 RS muffler on the other car as I was looking for more sound and power than what the stock heat / exchanger / manifold setup can provide.

M&K are really well made. You can quiet them quite easily.

Remove the cat and everything after it.
Install a FabSpeed test pipe and the muffler bypass pipe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKfvPl4kej0 |

Regardless, that's just loud. Which is fine, if that's what you're going for. Alas, it drowns out the 911 air cooled motor symphony that I prefer to enhance.

1500 for a muff. I hope it sleeps with you for that price.

sound is one thing.
Let's talk about weight savings and heat reduction. Indeed headers or SSI are top! a SC /Carrera saves the exhaust crosstube and pre-mufler/cat, less weight, less heat at the trans. and engine breathes more freely. do it.

I bought a M&K active exhaust and my shop recently installed it. It maintains original OEM sound on gradual acceleration and has a bypass that opens a baffle in the exhaust under load. It sounds excellent and I am eager to drive it soon. See video link below.
