A middy

Hi, allready member for sometime and did a lot of reading here on Pelican.
Allways wanted a 911 and after a longlong search I decided to jump.
Buy the best you can, a golden rule ...
Easier said than done, hardly any cars in the 15-20K range.I knew a pre 73 would be impossible with my budget but I definatly wanted a narrow body.A middy it would be.
Somewhere october last year here on pelican a 76' came for sale for a descent price and I reacted immediatly. The seller wasn't to kean to sell for a European buyer but finally I could persuade him.
Long story short, the car is now waiting to be shipped.
In the past I renovated a skoda felicia from 1961(great ,beautiful car) and a ghia from 1963.Never had or worked on a Porsche.
The PO was really very helpfull and I got lots of information, tools, some extra parts and books.
Being a project car I think I will be very happy having some help around here.
Here are some pictures ...Next time I'll write some more about things that will have to be addressed.

Greetings

Welcome!

Congrats! And welcome to the madness. I'm one of the resident middy fans here and looks like you got a pretty clean 76 Targa there.

A little love in the engine bay and you have yourself a really good start.

Hi jimmy, I think you may have replied to one of my posts last year about cheap project 911s?
Mine arrived in the UK September of last year. Slowly worked a way through list of small but needed jobs and now have a really cool 'budget' 911 that will turn a few heads this year at various shows! Look forward to seeing how you progress.

The lower prices and lack of appeal that come with the middies are really liberating. Once you get the engine issues sorted (they're not that difficult) because you don't have a precious long hood or a car that's inherently "special" you're really free to do whatever you like. Backdate, hot rod, whatever...

The light weight of the narrow G's also means that you don't really need a monster engine to make a really fun and fast car.

Frankly, I think the middies are some of the best 911s out there... but of course I'd say that as a middie owner myself

if this was a anything like 1975-77 it would have a the engine shroud in green,, so do some investigation what engine do you have in it..?The distributor cap looks like from 911SC engine.
Do you have the engine numbers handy??

ok, after closely looking on the shroud there a green under it between cyl 5 & 6 so it is very likely then 76 engine with some paint extras ..no big deal to clean..on the distr.cap hard to say but also it is 911S cap....after measuring mine with cables on it... at the garage;-)
