Throttle sticking on 69 911

Hi, please see picture, when I press the accelerator down fully the accelerator lever is getting stuck behind the bulkhead and will not return leading the engine to stay at full throttle (rather disconcerting when trying to brake). Can anyone tell me what is allowing this to happen, e.g. worn bushing, bent lever, etc? If I gently press the accelerator the bulkhead stops it from traveling the full amount.

threads

it looks like the throttle connection is loosening as the threads look clean to me.
that would push the throttle further into the tunnel

The lever is probably got bent from to much pressure applied to the gas pedal at full throttle, forcing it into the tunnel..

Bend it back, and make sure you have a throttle stop on your foot board, and that its adjusted properly..

yes, Tim has it correct (as usual). Pedal bell crank is bent from having mis-adjusted throttle stop on the pedal board.

Bend back.

However, these get fragile with age. The shaft can crack where it is attached to the bell crank. Best to remove it, straighten and TIG the outside perimeter where the shaft is pressed through.

And yes, check/replace the bushings while you have it out.

On my old track car I trimmed that sheet metal edge back for more clearance. Just in case...
