Can anyone identify what this hole is for?

I purchased outer rocker panels for my 1973 911 from restoration design. Part number pp212cl. It has a hole in the forward part on the top. It would sit under the door. It would be under the chrome threshold. I am wondering what that is for? They could not tell me. Is there supposed to be a plug that goes in that? I could not find one anywhere listed. What do I do with that cover it?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1617905062.jpg

Call them and ask them what the hole is for. Maybe a hose or wiring. It is certainly designed to be there.

Could possibly be there for manufacturing purposes. Fixturing for manufacturing/assembly or measuring?

Best picture I have. The holes are covered with flat metal plates, same gauge as the parent metal. Fabricate them to be the size shown in the picture so they sit flat.

Prestallion is correct.

I asked the same question back in 2005. It was discussed in the thread below. Post #16 has your answer, although you might want to review the entire thread as it contains the part number for the hole cover.
