How to restore a gas cap?
I am dropping some parts off for cad plating and decided to explore how to take my gas cap to bits. This is as far as I have gotten.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1618144863.jpg Beware the spring loaded plastic bar will jump out and attack you! The black plastic insert in the base of the treaded portion seems like a light press fit, I have not been able to remove it yet. I would prefer to get the plastic out prior to plating, has anyone.done this before? David Performance EngiNerding |
I'm not positive about cad plating, but with yellow zinc you can leave plastic and rubber parts attached. The process has no effect on them.

I may do that, it's the same basic process. It looks like the edge if the lower part is roll crimped in on the plastic.
