Need help! Broken down on 95S outside of Savannah

Hit a piece of road debris on the highway in the left hand lane and punctured the gas tank in our 79’ SC. Waiting for AAA on the side of the road with my brand new wife and our dog. Having it towed to a place called Euro Spec Inc. In Jacksonville. Tow truck will be here in a few hours and we’ll call an Uber but I’m nervous about the tow. The car is lowered and I have never had to have it towed and the driver has never towed one before. Can anyone help with advice on how to hook it up? It’ll be a flat bed and beyond that I have no info. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

your front A arm end should have hook to attach the towing chain .If not tell the driver to use the A -arms strongest points. On the back try to avoid the engine connection and the arm where the brake line are.he can secure the back with tying it around the bottom of the rear shocks ...preferably with robes and hock which he should have..

Ivan

sorry for your trouble..you`ll be fine honeymoon trips are the best;-)

Thanks Ivan, I’m just not sure how he’ll be able to reach under there. It’s so low .

The V in the A arms. The front "hooks/loops" can break off. Outer spring plate protrusions in the rear, or hook the rear arm from underneath at the shock mount.

I’m guessing the crash bar in front of the condenser is a bad place to hook up? Just trying to come up with something we can reach.

The first pic is good. Just don't use the tie down loops.

Thanks everyone for all your help. Car’s on its way to a shop called Euro Tec in Jacksonville. Made it to the hotel and we’ll keep our fingers crossed there is nothing else wrong beside the gas tank. Thanks again.

Quick update for anyone who’s interested. Turns out there was no damage to the tank. Had it towed to Euro Spec Inc. in Jacksonville. Great guys with a beautiful shop. They have a number of air cooled P-cars in the shop. Dented the hell out of the skid plate and knocked the banjo fitting on the fuel pump loose. They took real good care of us and fitted me in without an appointment to get us back on the road for our Honeymoon. Please consider their shop if you’re in need in the Jacksonville area. Thanks to all who offered advice!

Tow went smooth as silk. Luckily a very skilled driver showed up. He had to drop us off at the first exit and it took almost 2 hours to get a taxi to show but all is well!

Ouch, what kind of debris hit you hard enough to rupture the tank? What an annoying dilemma.

Keep reading - it wasn’t the tank
