Getting chirping as clutch engages

The last couple of weeks I’ve noticed on my 81 930 that just as the clutch fully engages (end of pedal release) I hear a kind of chirping or slipping sound, although I don’t notice RPMs go up like a typical clutch slip. It’s gradually getting more frequent. Is this the clutch surface just wearing out or the pressure mechanism failing? Have to admit I haven’t worked on clutches much.

You say end of pedal release but your clutch should begin to engage at 1/3 travel and be fully engaged by 2/3. Maybe a cable adjustment or possibly a new clutch. How many miles on the clutch.

It’s the same clutch for 12 years and about 30k miles. Well , let’s just say the sound is in the engagement process, from one 1/3 to fully engaged. And one time I heard it for a few seconds even when Pedal was all the way up.
