2.4 s piston solex cam advance curve
Guys,gals,
I have a fresh engine that I am running a 123 ignition on. My rough settings are attached. Does anyone see a spot to tweak so I can really get it set up well. I have about 150 miles on it so far and it runs pretty well. A little hard starting when warm . Thoughts? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1618250759.jpg |
Hi Ben, Max torque hits around mid 4k. So you can have the advance all in around 5-5.5K. I do not know your compression, so i cannot recommend how much.

Aaron, Its stock 2.2 S pistons with ported 2.4 heads. Nothing to special if that helps? |
It does. That should be too much compression for a Solex cam. 2.2S comes in about 9.6 net with a 66 crank. Add about .5 with the increased stroke. If you have actual compression close to that, I wouldn’t run any more timing and wouldn’t want it any sooner than what you have. I would recommend you run a set of classic S cams for that compression. This would depend on how deep seats were cut for valve job and your deck height you are running. Suggested comp for Solex is 9.3 which you can probably get away with 9.5 on 93 octane

Aaron, Henry machined the pistons so they are not stock S compression . I believe its closer to 8.5:1 . Here are the pictures of the pistons. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1618267038.jpg |
So what’s the compression?
|
I believe its 8.5:1

I would experiment with 32deg to 34 deg at 5500 rpm. You may be able to push that down to 5k

Aaron what do think of this curve? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1618350883.jpg

Not bad. Try it out and let us know
