Thoughts on 935 "X" cross brace in frunk.
I'm considering purchasing the 935 "X" cross brace for my 1984 911 DE car. Already have the 2 bars providing triangulation for the upper shock mounts. Will I gain much with the additional "X" brace?
Interested in your thoughts. |

I like the ER quick change version. I don't track, but I'm guessing it's going to provide a bit more rigidity for sure. The nice thing with the ER version is that you can take the X off when you aren't tracking it if you need to roll a spare or other stuff in the frunk.

I'm still hoping someone can chime in who has actually installed this brace and could comment on whether they experienced any significant improvement. Or is this brace just eye candy for C & C.

No disrespect intended, are you trying to go after some goal by upgrading to what you already have? I don't track my car anymore but at one time the only street use my car saw was from my house to whatever track I was driving at and then back home again so I focused a lot of my car's tuning to the suspension. My car has the Elephant Racing single bar and for DE found that to be adequate enough to stiffen the front.
If you're goal is to move to the next level and start competing I can see how this upgrade would be helpful to you but with your double cross bar set up I would think for DE use it is more than capable of stiffening your car's front end. The person you should actually be talking with is Chuck at Elephant Racing. Whenever I had questions about what I thought I wanted to do on any of the suspension mods I did but wasn't 100% certain it was right for me I called Elephant Racing. Most of the time, he was the one who answered the phone. Call him, he's very approachable and easy to talk with. He will steer (no pun intended) you in the right direction.

If I remember right the full cross brace was actually significantly better than the strut brace, but ultimately it isn't something you'll appreciate until you're on R comps on track.

When you put massive slicks on your car and have over 500 HP, you might benefit from an X brace. The 2 bar triangulated setup is more than enough for a DE car…….

Really! The 2 bar triangulated setup is more than enough for a DE car…….don’t waste money on an X brace…really.

Spend the money on seat time. You will have a lot to learn before you will be able to even notice the difference in braces.
Drive, drive some more, try different tires, different tire pressures, suspension set ups, fuel loads, try working on your longitudinal weight transfers. Work on your vision, vision, vision. Hand placement, your heel and toe. Are you steering with a dominate hand or equal pressure. There are tons of things you can work on that are free long before you get to a stage where an X brace will make a difference. Most of all have fun and be open to what you are learning. Always try new instructors when you go to a DE. Never think they a punishment because most are there to help. Steve
