New Lug nuts for black Fuchs
 

For what ever it is worth, if you are thinking of purchasing new black lug nuts for your Fuchs get the aftermarket kind, not the OEM version. I purchase both to compare and the aftermarket nuts are far superior...harder surface and don't scuff as the OEM ones do.

where did you you buy?

Is there a difference in cost? Can the aftermarket ones handle the stresses of a 911 as well as the OEM lug nuts, or better?

i picked up a set of aluminum ones from our host.........my wheels haven't fallen off yet :D

Purchased from our host. Cost is about the same.

They must be "generic nuts" The label on my box says "Aftermarket Alloy Lug Nut, Polished Each"

I have had trouble with the aftermarket lug nuts. They go on without a problem, but when I remove them, they loosen with a terrible squeak, like they bind with the rims. Yes the torque is correct, yes they are slightly copper pasted. The original (old) lugs used right after do not do that. Must be the alloy is not the same.
Kind of freaks me when I think about broken lug nuts stuck on the wheel.
I solved my dilemma- back to steel lug nuts! Very "R Gruppe".

apply some anti-seize on the threads

I have steel lug nuts. They are a bit rusty now. Anyone try POR-15 on steel nuts? I figureed I just paint the outside, not the threads or bearing surface.

Personally, I'd throw a dab of anti-seize right on the mating surface of the nut (nut to wheel). I've seen them stick there (probably the squeak you're hearing) and then snap off right at the shoulder on the socket surface...

Just my 2 cents...

They HAVE anti-seize. It's as if the alloy of the lugs reacts with the alloy of the rims. Back to back testing shows this seems due to the alloy itself (?)
That is rather academic, as I go with steel lugs when the new engine is in.
