Ducktail install, lacking bracket for a/c condenser
As my new purchased ducktail shows in attached pictures, there is no structural support to attach the a/c condenser like the original lid. If I attach a bracket from the single hole in the existing partial bracket (below the engine light bracket), and extend that to the t-bolt hole, will that be enough to support it?

When I added ac to my 81 SC with a fiberglass tail I built a bracket from scratch.

When I put on my ducktail I left the condenser without a bracket for a while and it ended up vibrating so badly on track (alligator strips!) that the condenser blew itself open against the fan housing.
Not wanting to do that with my brand new condenser I made a bracket out of simple aluminum bar stock in a J shape bolted to the lower-center bolt hole for the decklid grill. You can't see it in the photo but I also taped a small strip of rubber to the inside of the bracket to make it a soft grip. Even though it's only held in place with one bolt, it works surprisingly well and I've since seen no damage to the condenser. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1619706916.jpg |
