74 to 89 Bumper Fender SHOCK ABSORBER Overhaul Refurb???

Just wondering if anyone ever taken apart the front or rear bumper shock absorbers fitted to 74-89 911's?

As far is i understand they were designed to absorb the impact from a low speed bump. Buying a new ones are quite expensive, so the next question is do mine still work/and or can I take them apart for a overhaul.

The alternative is to replace them with the solid tubes, but I like the idea that the bumpers will absorb a low speed impact, provided that they work of course...

Garage
I just purchased new tubes and scraped my old heavy ones. I believe they were referred to as euro crush tubes
