Refurbishing 911 Sun Visors - Vinyl Specialties

Just wanted to let all know, if you’re considering having your sun visors refurbished, I spoke with Darren at Vinyl Specialties last week and he’s retiring this fall. Might be a good time to act.

Thanks JohnW. We have the pivots (with metal bases instead of plastic), but unfortunately we don't offer the whole visor.

Was quoted about $120, but having match vinyl color. Said it will take 2-3 weeks. Will provide actuals when completed.

This is also a possible DIY project. I have seen several threads in the past on how to go about it.

Most reconditioned visors have a ugly stitched seam around the edge. Does anyone do them that turn out original looking?

There was an article by the Paterek brothers, years ago, showing how they cut along the seam, emptied the old foam out of the pocket, wrapped new foam around the frame, then pulled the vinyl cover back over the foam and frame. They secured the cover where it was cut with Crazy Glue, as I recall. The result looked great, in photos.

I've never tried it myself.

I sent Darren an email earlier this week. No reply. I guess I need to call him.
