Sunroof help!

I have an 84 3.2 carrera with a sunroof that rattles only when open. Does anyone know what it maybe? If I grab the sunroof fro the interior and pull down of the front edge of the sunroof the back of the sunroof lifts a little and there is the rattle. What’s causing the sunroof to lift up on the tracks?

Antonio

Antonio..it could be several things. There is plenty of culprits.Take your time and do use the search button on top right....
I`d suggest do some reading 1st.
After you know a little more pull down the sunroof bottom cover -headliner and see inside .also open the sunroof and take a pictures and post it here we will help you if wee anything obvious

This is the culprit I believe. I unscrewed the flathead and now it doesn’t tighten down.
How does this piece work?

This does up and down when the roof is open which cause me the sunroof to rattle of bumps when driving

if you loosen the bolt the nut from behind has fallen off..look for it..plus the spring clip should be on the pin extension of the cable guide..be careful now moving it you have a nut somewhere in there

Ok thanks. Does the sunroof supposed to push and down when fully open? Meaning the bolt extends up when fully open. Which makes the roof rattle of bumps

Antonio....as i have suggested do some research and reading so you get the idea how it works..you should not be able to push the roof up by hands ,for that there are the cables.
Start with disconnecting the el.motor under the zip on your headliner ..then you can move the sunroof manually...be careful not to scratch you sunroof

Thank you for your help really appreciate it. I removed the sunroof carefully and successfully and replaced the nut that fell off. Upon having the sunroof off, I went over the mechanicals. One thing a noticed and not sure if it maybe my problem, the guide that runs inside the aluminum is a little loose when I tried to move it. Not sure if maybe the cable needs to be tighter. If that’s even an option. But I believe that’s what’s maki g the roof rattle when fully opened.

take a picture of it...if you are talking about the guide which is part of the cable...it has to be loose...lubrication will helb if it makes the noise...

I’m going to try and explain it a little more. When you close the sunroof and it lifts maybe about an inch at the very end to seal properly against the felt seals. That’s the play I’m getting when the sunroof is fully opened. That one inch play from the rear of the sunroof (rear meaning engine rear).
If I grab the edge of the sunroof when fully open and pull down the rear edge of the roof inside the roof cavity comes up about an inch. I’ll try and take pictures or even a short video.

This is my issue. Not sure if it’s normal sunroof function.

I will give it a try. Thanks again for your help!

Does your sunroof rattle (move) when fully opened at highway speeds over potholes or imperfections on the road?

Could it be the support guides? Part# 911-564-433-00
The Bentley states 4 guides but if I remember correctly I only have 2 left and right on the front (headlight front) sunroof panel

What... you slide the headliner in the track rails? Mine is underneath the rails.
Do you have a picture of the sunroof headliner orientation?
