Anyone use the Toyo RA1 for Street
Anyone on the board use Toyo RA1s for daily street driving? How does it do in the rain? Seems to be a good tire for the street and the less than half a dozen track outings a year if you do not shave it.

it has been a long standing practice of mine to run RA1s on the street, put them on in the fall, drive in the rainy season here in CA over the winter, then as the tread wears down, the sun arrives, and they ar good for the summer. Once the tread gets really low, they becomes track tires only.
They are good for about 10K miles of hard street use. Jim

Alf,
I am running 205/55/16 on 7s in the front and 245/45/16 on 9s in the rear. I drove 2 hours to hershey in the pouring rain on the RA-1s and they did fine until you hit tripple digit speeds. Then I experienced hydroplaning, but only though standing water. On a normal wet road they did just fine. |

Jim, Ted,
Just what i needed to hear. I like Jim's plan, i think i'll do that. Just street them till they are down to track only. That is sort of like getting free track tires with the purchase of street tires or vice versa ![]() alf
