Vintage Recaro Seats
Can anyone tell me what model Recaro Seats are in Dr. Johnson's Book "Porsche 911 912" page 46,interior page, lower right corner, 1969 on Dashtop pic. They have wide stripes with black sides. Thanks in advance!! Ryan

I'm old school. The book is at my other home. I don't,can't send pics.. The seats have wide bluish-light and dark and grayish stripes. 2" wide. They are pictured in a 1969 911. The good Dr Johnson has this book written on the 911 up to '73. Illistrations of all options, but does not describe these type of Recaros...

Thank you! Are they factory or after market back in the late 60's?

The picture is from 1969. Dr Johnson's book has Original pictures from back then. How is a Recaro seat "Aftermarket?"

Recaro makes seats. They sell them in the open market. If purchased separately or after the sale of the car, they are considered “aftermarket.” I am no expert, but I don’t recall seeing those particular seats as manufacturer, dealer or aftermarket supplied for that period. The author may have been focusing on other (i.e “dashboard) elements of the interior. The caption states “1969-on dashboard.” Unless noted somewhere else in the text, I am not sure one should assume this photo was taken in 1969, or for that matter, that the 911 pictured is a 1969. The photo simply illustrates the dash from “1969- on.”

Those look like Recaro LS seats with thigh adjustments.

Those are quite similar in architecture to the “Classic C’s” residing in my ‘82 SC but without the buttons for the electric/pneumatic functions.
The seats in my car have a build date of 1970 so they pre-date the car by quite a bit. Makes one wonder how many cars they have been in before mine. Anyway I wish they were still in one of those cars, I would prefer some plain old factory sport seats!

My bad! Sorry, I was thinking Aftermarket-Repop...I have a pair of these in my 68S that I bought back in 1993 and have in storage. Will have to pull them out to look for dates. My plan is to go through it and fire it up this Spring. I know they were not factory as Dr J's book shows seats for a 68S.. His book is the only other place I've saw them....Thanks Everyone..

Those Recaro LS's that Busta Rib posted are the most comfortable seats I've ever had in a 911.
I had a black set in a white '74 Carrera Targa, still miss that car......who knew?

I know this is an old thread but I am looking for Recaro seats in this striped fabric OR just the fabric itself, even if it's just remnants/not in perfect shape etc.
Thanks, Michael |
