Question on converting back to R12
 

With my new underbelly condenser and new barrier hoses I am seriously considering converting my Sanden compressor and system back to r12. PO had retrofitted to R134a. Can anyone tell me if I have to change the expansion valve, or is there anything else I must do, other than change the oil in the compressor.

Or are there additional issues I should consider?

I am also adding a high pressure switch. I recently read that with r12 if pressure gets above 250psi the r12 cooling effect diminishes significantly. True or false? How would potential high pressure from my static condenser influence the cooling effect of r134a?

R12 isn't going to need as much airflow and condenser area as R134a, so if it won't do the trick with R12, you definitely would be in trouble with R134a.

High side pressures above 250 psi are not uncommon. Home A/C systems reach this high and more, and cars reach even higher pressures. Obviously, lower pressure = better. High pressure isn't good regardless of freon used.

Are you going to run a second condenser? Airflow is very important to obtain good performance, and since we lack the flow, we must substitute with condenser area.

Not intending to stray, but have you consider isobutane/propane mix?

I will keep my front condenser and fan. It's not a lot but something is better than nothing.

I haven't considered the isobutane/propane mix because the AC shop that's helping me with fittings and charging doesn't handle it.
