85 911surging idle then stalls

hi all. just like the title says. to make a long story short... a few years back i left my car sit a little too long. car wouldnt start. turns out the injectors needed to be "shocked" with a 9 v battery. while i had my injectors out, i decided to rebuild them. i got the correct rebuild kit. i was very cautionous until the last one, while cutting off the plastic ht, i slipped and broke the pintle of the end, since the injectors are very expensive the car sat a few more years. finally i ended up buying 6 new aftermarket injectors the guy told me they were the same flow as my stock ones. i put them in, and now it seems to run very rich. its very exhausty coming from the exhuast. i pulled a plug. didnt look like the plug was very black. i do get greyish color smoke from the exhaust when revved. now the car will surge to about 1500 rpms and down to where it almost stalls. then it will stall after a few back and forth with the surging idle, i did pull the icv, its works fin e and i also cleaned it with brake cleaner the car ran great before i had stuck injectors. do you think i should just replace the injector with a new one. like i should have done the first time. i also checked all the vacuum lines. the all look good. any suggestions??

sounds like your mixture's rich / needs to be adjusted -- makes sense, given you switched to a different injector model. Check out this thread http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/54799-mixture-adjustment-84-3-2-a.html

Pull the AFM out. Open the black plastic top, find the toothed gear that is attached to the barn door. Turn it CLOCKWISE 90 degrees. Glue the plastic top back, reinstall, fire up.

First I would find out what brand and injector part number from who you bought them from and compare the flow rates with the stock injectors. Otherwise you're flying blind.

Cheers,

Joe

Have you checked fuel pressure? The issue could be coincidental. Also check your cylinder head temp sensor. CHT can cause a rich mixture that causes rough idle and stalling.
