Joined the scissor lift owner's club!
Found this on Craigslist. The prev. owner delivered it to my garage as he was coming up to my neighborhood this weekend for the labor day festivities anyway. I didn't get a screaming deal or anything, and I had to troubleshoot it for a few hours to get it running, but it's now working great and best of all - it's in my garage! I found myself going out to the garage a few times today simply to raise it up and lower it down - just because I could!

Looks great. I've always wanted one but they look so narrow and unstable. How stable is it?

How much does it weigh? Can you move it around by yourself, without the car on it?

I take it you have to run it up on planks to get your car over it? I like the air lift but seems a hassle not being able to just drive over it without having to drive onto planks. I take it you can't drive over the lift with your tires on the pavement and Porsches being relatively low to the ground to begin with? I think I'll stay with my method of 2 long-arm floor jacks and big jacks stands. And....I can put them all away when I'm done. Each jack was 120. and 4 heavy duty jack stands about 70. How much was the lift?

nice lift , i am three shades green right now , very nice ...
hey relay what the hell, you try to clown the guy for driving on planks and yet you use big a-s jack stands and two 70+ LB JACKS , yea i can see your way is much more convenient you dufff , the nature of the Porsche is low(except the rally) I have to run mine up on two 2x12 just to get my floor jack under my car , you just do what you do with your big a-s jacks and your big a-s jack stands ... . ![]() |

I've got one of these. I thought I would use it much more than I have. It's a pain to work on the car with this thing in the way. I'm going to get a two-post installed in my garage after I finish up the Boxster book. You also need the wood "ramps" to drive up the lift and position it. When it's all said and done, I find it easier just to use my AC Hydraulic jack. I do use the scissors lift with the 959, although the ride height on that car can be lifted up so that it clears without any trouble. Plus the entire underside of the car is covered in Kevlar / Nomex, so there really isn't a good spot to jack up and place jack stands.

Scissor Lift Maufacturer
Manufacturer: American Lift Products
They have warehouses in a few states. Overall nice guys, great prices, but took three weeks to get my unit. I did have an issue with the electrics. The controller needed a full 10 amp draw....so I put in a quick 15 amp dedicated breaker and viloa! No more issues. 911_pilot |

I bought a BendPak from Pelican a few months ago and love it. I did an engine drop, rust repair, suspension, brakes, etc. Much easier than jack stands. The ramps do not get in the way at all. I park over the lift with no problems. Highly recommended. If you buy one and don't like it, sell it without losing much money.
They weigh 1,000lbs and can be moved around with the unit that raises and lowers it.

I don't know which makes me more jealous...the scissor lift, or nyne11's garage.

I'm hoping one of you will take this lift off my hands. Only thing is you have to come and pick it up.
