Fluid Leak Behind Pedals
Hi All,
Very new to the Porsche Community, and seem to ask a lot of (perhaps) obvious questions so appreciate any help for a newby. I've noticed what feels like brake fluid dripping down behind the pedals from a small plastic stopper on my 1981 911sc. Any idea where this is coming from/why it's happening, and the best way to resolve? Thanks in advance? ![]() ![]() |

Mine was doing the same thing. Brake master cylinder is right above there. I replaced my master cylinder and still had the same leak. Turned out to be the hose from the brake fluid reservoir to the master had rotted and leaked.
Fix it quickly as brake fluid dissolves paint! |

Typically caused by the braided hose between the reservoir and master cylinder getting old and cracking. Pelican sells the hose by the foot (or meter, don't remember) . The little plastic fittings there can crack too but less likely.

You need to examine the area where the master cylinder is located in the truck.
It could be you are missing the overflow line, or the lines from the reservoir to the cylinder are leaking as stated above. It the brake pedal occasionally goes soft and is traveling to the floor, the master cylinder is failing. Fluid will leak past the seals and down the booster, into the trunk, and eventually into the foot well. |
