89 911 Oil Temp Gauge fault

Howdy. Have an '89 911. The oil temp gauge has been intermittently acting up for quite a while. Sometimes works fine, then goes all the way to the top. Replaced temp sender with no improvement. Can't find any wiring faults. Pulled the whole cluster gauge and set up a test circuit to match the in-car circuit. Gauge failed on the bench, so at least know the culprit now. Don't know if the gauge is replaceable without doing the whole cluster unit. Don't know if they are available. Don't know if anybody rebuilds/repairs them. Anybody got any ideas/suggestions/help? Thanks.
