help recommending new valence for Dad's 74 coupe
While dragging my dad's car out of the shop to redo the grandson's toyota brakes, i managed to fook up the valence. I am in the process of adding a duck, a front air dam and brake cooling, so this is an "opportunity" to replace the valence with something more aerodynamically effective, and hopefully with air to the front Mighty M brakes, which have been renewed.
so, i am looking for advice- a recommendation for a more effective, (balancing aero to the duck), with valence inlets for fender oil cooler and front brake cooling. I am thinking that it will take longer to repair the valence damage, add the front spoiler and cut "fog light" holes for air to the front brakes and fender cooler, than it would "cost" to replace the valence. As it is, i am going to have to repaint it anyway, so....????. I live in a rural califoania county, so some parking is still occasionally done by ear, so, doing a fiberglass bumper lightening is out of the question, since i still want to drive his car on the street. Just want a purposefull valence replacement. TIA for advice, chris |

Hi Chris, I'd look for a Carrera Valance. you can find them used occasionally or post a wtb. The Carrera valance has the recessed holes for fogs, so you could convert those to your brake ducts.
On my car, I smoothed the front valance. Honestly how much cooling do you need on the M brakes? no need for ducting unless you are tracking the car and really heating those brakes up.

Thanks Duane,
Nice looking car, black on white. I'll look into the Carrera valence. I woulld like to track the car 2-3 times a year, so, feel the air to the fronts and more air to the fender cooler will be helpful. Thought I'd give this a try before moving to larger discs/wider calipers. Also going with a duck and front air dam, like yours. chris |
