Low beams not working

Hey so my dilemma is that my 1978 911SC low beams don't work however my high beams work as well as the fog lamps
I just want to know if it could be as simple as changing the headlight or could it be the switch ? Any common issues I am unaware of? So both high beams work when i pull the switch all the way and my fog lamps/day time running lights come on when I pull it once. Any information would be helpful before I start changing headlights.

Thanks

Check your fuses.

If you have a test light or voltmeter, check for power on both sides of the low beam fuses.

Did you do anything under the dash near the headlight switch to knock a wire off?

It may be your turn signal/headlight flasher switch. This post may be helpful. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/248149-turn-signal-switch-quick-fix-pictures.html

Are your high beams on when you try your low beams? If so, it is the common melted contacts on the turn signal stalk.

This came up recently, and unearthed a gem of a thread, I think you’ll find it worth a read…

As Harry said, check fuses. Actually replace them and clean the terminals well. The fuses in our car can appear ok but actually be out of working order. Cheap and easy start to the trouble shooting.

Okay so it seems my highbeams are stuck on when I pull the light switch so I guess I will pull off the steering wheel and follow up with that post seems likely it's that. Thanks will keep you guys updated

So I was able to remove everything and it is a melted contact issue as in the previous thread that you guys had mentioned but the issue I am having is bending the contacts lol the low beams work but only when I make the contacts touch and sometimes they will be fine but as soon as I try to put on the highbeams and poof they low beams gone I was able to snap a photo any help would be great on how I can bend the contacts correctly for everything to work or even a replacement options if that's necessary http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1622256356.jpg

Should my low beam contact always be making contact with the top metal piece closest to the dash ? If so it is now making contact however when I pry a flat head together it stays on. Sorry new newbie questions I see the assembly on Ebay for 175 Is that usually the price ?

Low beams should be always on in the default position. (Middle)
High beams pull forward to flash, push back to select on.
On/off selection for headlights is at the switch.
And yeah, the new unit is that price or more.

Don't forget to add a relay to the headlight system. It'll save you burned switches in the future.

This is important...

Okay I am going to get a relay but I am unable to fix as of yet I think I will replace the unit. Anyone have any idea on how it looks from the pictures? Is this a part that can always be fixed it looks kinda burned out in the pictures. Thanks
