Uh Oh... I think I started something...
 

When I first got my about 3 years ago, the wheels ( original black fuchs) I noticed the silver alloy was showing in a few places around the edges of the paddles.

I have always just touched them up with some black paint. Well yesterday I saw a place showing so I took my fingernail and scrapped off about a 2" long strip.

Well one thing led to another and the next thing I know I have taken the wheel off and am using a dremel and zipping off the paint as well as the anodize underneath.

Needless to say I have really started something. I have taken a buffing wheel and some white rouge and man I am bringing up a shine. It will take some time to get them right but I have already gone past the point of no return. So far the first wheel is looking good though.

Now I just can't decide if I want to do the whole wheel or just the paddles. I am thinking just the paddles.

Ok. I will try. I will have to borrow a camera because my cheap digital just died. I think I can borrow one from work:D

Speaking of work. These wheels are going to take a while, but I have the first one getting close. The looks are going to be worth it.

Even the wife liked the way it looks:D

band-aids....lots of band-aids! Ha Ha...they will look great and you will be very happy you did it. I did mine over a year ago and they still polish up quite easy and hold the shine for weeks.

the key to removing anodization is to use easy-off oven cleaner...(the yellow can)......someone on the board here recomended that (can't remember who :rolleyes: ) and it worked like a charm.
my wheels came out nice.....but i'm going to send them to al reed in a few months.

A dremel with a sanding wheel on it really zips the anodize right off. Then sand graduating up in grit. Polish with buffer and rouge. Tedious but not that bad. The anodize is the easy part.

Have you seen Mike Feinstein's car? Might help you decide how far to go on the polishing.
