Found stiff shaft while mating tranny to case.

Is it normal for the throwout fork actuation assembly to be a little stiff? I greased the shaft up and everything moved pretty freely, but now that I have the tranny mounted to the case it is harder to move. I am talking about the small amount of freeplay the actuator fork has before engaging the TO bearing. I.E. I cannot move it just twisting the spined shaft but I can with the arm on the spline. Any thoughts on this? Thanks

I'm just thinking how easy it is to misconstrue the meaning of your subject line!
