3.2 no oil pressure after top end rebuild.

Helping a buddy of mine who did a top end rebuild (one of many, so experienced) on a 3.2.
On start-up, there is no oil pressure. There is oil in the "S" hose from the tank. Pulled the cam feed line, and just drops of oil.
Checked the pressure relief and safety valve.
Checked the gear on the oil pump with USB cam - running.
Oil cooler was replaced, but even if this should somehow be blocked, it should be bypassed when cold.
Thermostat and everything else left untouched - just top end. The problem was not there before the rebuild.
Any ideas?

Thanks Claus

My first thought is that you left something in the lines.

Oil pressure test during start-up.........

Claus,

Use a mechanical pressure gauge (0~5 bar) installed at the engine where the pressure sender is located. Crank the engine (ignition and fuel system disabled) several times without running the engine, you should see at least 2 bar reading on the gauge. If you are not getting any pressure reading, then time to seriously investigate what could be wrong.

Claus..i`d remove the oil cooler..is it new or where did it come from??
nothing else would block it....

Ivan

if you drain the engine case any oil coming out is the big Q

I think he's talking about the fender oil cooler since he mentions the thermostat.

I agree with Tony about a mechanical gauge. I did that when I thought I had no oil pressure after an engine drop.

Nick got it;-)
still i would look at the connection at the engine cooler and the S hose input at the tank.

Problem sort of solved. Gauge in car was bad and the engine sounds like there is no oil pressure.
Measuring 5 bar though on a mechanical gauge, so plenty of pressure.
Taking it apart again to se what is causing the noise.
Thanks
