1966 911 single steel fuel line in tunnel
Hi,
Help would be much appreciated. I've been restoring a 1966 911 for 25 years now and finally I can see a small light at the end of the tunnel. All the items passing through the tunnel have been completed ,and the last one is the single steel fuel line, I managed to get it through, however, I have no idea what supports it in the tunnel, does it just lay amongst the other lines. Mikes restorations (video 38) shows 5 split rubber hose sections spaced along the line, not sure how these would stay in place once you started to push the line past all the other obstuctales. Has anyone come across this before? Cheers, Ron

The video series Garage Time goes through pulling lines in the tunnel also. His car is a backdate and has a return fuel line. It may be worth a look.

![]() There are metal tabs at the front and back within the tunnel that are bent over to secure the lines. The later tunnel lines are Polyamide, but the early metal ones likely have the split rubber hose to reduce the chance of rattling. I would expect they are added through the openings after the lines are in place. Len

Some tunnel pics that might help:
Early 911s with carbs only have one fuel line (supply) to the engine. This is from a later chassis with a fuel return line. Pics from various year 911s might assist in ID'ing the lines, cables, tubes and routing paths: ![]() ![]() ![]() These tunnel pics are views as seen from the underside.
