Alloy Caliper seals?

Guys.Im refurbishing a pair of original S Calipers.Seal kit has arrived.However,I presumed a seal would be fitted where the parts meet.Surely this isnt just fitted without any sealing? (see black arrow.Sorry for poor computer skills)

Alloy calipers are a monoblock design and have a cap installed with 4 bolts on the backside. That's what we're looking at here, not the part where the dust seal goes.

Any old o-ring should do here.
