Talking So...Someone is manufacturing new 3.6 cases...

Fascinating stuff. Target is $5k:

https://rennlist.com/forums/911-forum/1003184-i-am-making-reproduction-porsche-engine-cases-3.html

Untested, for sure, but seems legit.

^ I have heard that more than once. What's wrong with the repros?

Porous castings, machining that is sub-par, etc. If I shell out several hundred $$ or more for other parts, I expect perfection. nothing less.

Do you mean fan housing?

930 fan housings are available from the dealer for ~$426.
Looks like 3.2 fan housings are NLA.
Not sure what the difference is.

There were several different diameters over the years.

I would love a 7R all aluminum case.

I could build my dream 2.8 short stroke I've always wanted...

Well you can have one soon. After I finish the 3.6, I am doing the 2.0 and 2.7 back to back.

Another suggestion is the C3.0/early 930 case. These are unobtainium and used by many club racers. Allows the use of a 66mm crank on a later head and spigot spacing. high rpm screamers apply here.

Can you say 66x98 and 8500 rpm? Sweet, sweet music...

I fix them all the time. Weld up the cracks and blend to finish

Couldn't you build your 2.8 SS on this case below?

If there is sufficient demand, I'll do it. Right now there's a ton of demand for the 3.6, some demand for the 2L, and frankly i just thought to do the 2.7 because I always wanted an aluminum 7r 2.7..

You guys decide for me - do you want an aluminum 2.7 or do you want an aluminum 3.0??

Of course I need to actually see a 3.0 to build one (I have a 3.0 in my SC but i don't think that's the one you mean).

The 76-77 3.0 case/early 930 case should be your middie size template. As mentioned one could do short stroke builds under 3l or standard crank for 3l.

Huh, that's one of the few cases I have zero experience with. Who owns one that wants to loan it to me for a bit???

The C3.0/early 930 case is special. It used the smaller crank journals of the early 66/70.4mm crank along with the wider cylinder head stud spacing of the 3.0SC/3.2 case. This allows the early lightweight crank with the later cylinder heads and larger diameter pistons.

The 2.8SS (66mm x 95mm) is fantastic engine and fits many race classes.

To me the 2.0 and 2.7 case are basically the same. The only difference is the layshaft and cylinder spigots. Build the equivalent of the 2.7 7R aluminum case with the smaller 2.0 spigots for your castings. The finish machining can be done to open for 2.0, 2.2/2.4 or 2.7 cylinder spigots. In other words, only build one.

Then the second could be the C3.0 case.

My personal favorite motor was build on 7R case.

Could have been built on an early turbo case. Sure.

But from what I know there are not 7R Al cases.

Just like Catorce(the builder) said I just want one. I always have. Pure lust.

From a manufacturer point of view, trying to make money... I'll let him decide.
