ppg paint code for light ivory?
I am in the middle of having my car painted light ivory.Porsche code 6604-131. PPG shows paint code 81341. When the paint supplier mixes it, it comes up yellow. The shop sprayed the car before I could tell them it was wrong. PPG shows a single stage paint formula, but not a 2 stage formula. Does anyone know the correct PPG formula to obtain a correct light ivory in a 2 stage paint? If anyone can help me while the car is being sanded, I would appreciate it.

From experience I can tell you that PPG never translated the early single stage color codes into two stage codes. I restored a '73 911S but ended up shooting it Glasurite single stage.
The only way I can suggest getting the color you want is to have your paint store match an existing sample and then "formulate" the result.

John I'am back from Oregon and have the color code for Ivory White. PPG Deltron Basecoat DBC 8321. It shows up as a Ford color but it is Ivory White. Best wishes. Regards, Freddie

According to PPG website the withe ivory code is 81137

Thank you all for your responses. From what I have just determined, Freddie is right on! The PPG website shows 81341 as the color, but old paint books list that as the color for 57-60 356's. Those same books show Freddie's code 8321 as the correct code. So the conclusion is that PPG website is wrong and Freddie is right. Thank You Freddie. The body shop was just about to throw me out for making them re-sand and paint the car. Yellowbird, I think the code you are using is a 72 ivory 911, but thank you for the effort.

Not to beat a dead horse but I am getting ready for paint, and prior to seeing this I looked at the PPG book I found 90255 light ivory from 1984. I will go back and research Fredie's number but did the paint jobs turn out as expected from the Freddie paint code? I never found pics. Thanks,

hellelfenbein light ivory Die Farbe hellelfenbein würde über die gesamte Bauzeit der Urelfer von 1964 bis 1973 als Standardfarbe angeboten. http://www.elferhelfer.com/farben.htm Click on 1972-73 and then top left on 131 hellelfenbein "MORE". Porsche has it's own proprietary paint number system. For 1968 light ivory the number is 6804.
PPG has it's own proprietary paint number system . for 1968 light ivory it is 8321. You need to call the PPG library to assure that the correct formula is being selected. For correctness ... PPG will fax the jobber the formula. Last edited by bobrestore; 06-16-2021 at 03:27 PM.. |
