Rear 1/4 vent window help
 

I give up, I can't install the glass to frame seal. Who is our glass seal installation pro? I'm ready to hire a professional to get these installed.

Well after destroying two seals I took them to my local glass guy that actually still offers windshield glass installation. They told me they could install the seals but while I was still there they busted the third seal (they told me they would glue it back together). I just got back from pick them up and I'm not thrilled they did a mediocre job and used a whole seal on one window and a combination of the factory seal and some black silicone on the other. It doesn't look awesome I wish they would have called and used 100% silicone. I also had the privilege of paying $100. I considered my options but at the end of the day I still need these guys to install my windshield.

I had my windshield and seals replaced at a place in Troy a few years ago. I think it was at Crooks and Maplelawn, found it John R glass

I went thru a similar frustrating experience when I replaced both of my rear opening window seals. I kept working at the seal until I finally got them on, but I probably spent 40 hours on those 2 windows (ea). I suggest lots of WD40, Silicone Lubricant or Liquid Soap & water. I think I used all of these trying to get my seals on. While I got the seal around the glass in place as well as the weather strip around the outer perimeter of the window frame that mates to the car installed, I can see a space at the lower rear window frame that fails to mate with the window opening! It's probably a 1/4" wide gap and I cannot understand why it ended up like that. All I can think is it's a nature of a hand-built car and I should expect things like this. Don't know if that's true but I had other non-Porsche things to worry about.... Good Luck Harpo! BTW, If you fails to find a answer here, you might try the PCA...

Getting it on the glass isn't a big deal, but you have to make sure you match the corner angles correctly, as one has a more acute angle than the other. Once you have the seal on the glass, you can spray wd-40 in the frame, and start sliding the glass into it, when it starts getting stuck, spray some more wd-40, then lift the frame up by its sides so that the pointed end is pointing down, and lightly tap the point on a padded but firm surface - I used a table with a bath towel on it. Tap the frame to the table a few times to seat the glass and seal into the end. It has to seat ALL THE WAY or the end piece will be impossible to fit properly.
I spent almost three years trying to do this properly, and went through 2 full sets of seals . I used the URO seals for the first attempt and never got there. I used Authentic Porsche seals for my last attempt and finally got the windows to fit the frame. It was very frustrating.
The outer frames were much easier once I discovered how they press in. But it took a couple years to figure it out. You have to make sure both sides are inside the frame rails, and then you need to press in on the center of the seal all along the entire edge until you hear a pop that indicates that both sides have clicked into the slot they are supposed to seat in. The window just plain will not fit if the seal isn't properly seated all around the window.

To complicate matters, the tabs that go on the straight edge need to go in in the correct orientation, or the window will be at the wrong angle to the frame and it'll never fit. Problem is, I don't remember what the orientation is right now;)
