1977 Coupe Sunroof
I'm trying to get my sunroof working again on my 1977 coupe, but it does not have the much discussed zipper that is needed to access the sunroof motor mechanism. Has anyone else ran into this issue? My headliner is close to needed to be replaced anyways, so I am tempted to just carefully slice into it and stich back up until it's time to replace it. Is there a trick I'm missing though?

Sorry man can't help you, my 1975 coupe has a zipper. I am in the middle of replacing the sunroof guide tubes and I honestly can't see any other way to get at that motor than to cut into it if you don't have a zipper.

That’s weird not having the zipper and sunroof motor access. There’s not a lot you can do to/for/with the sunroof without that access. Perhaps the headliner was replaced sometime in the past and the P/O didn’t care about sunroof operation.
In any case you will need that access to do much.

any way to pull it out of the seal and tuck it back in when your done? If it doesnt come out cut as far into the seal as you can get with the knife. I dont know if that would allow enough access anyway

Thank you for the input everyone. I will try some careful cutting / pulling and see what I can do to get access. I guess I will chalk up the lack of a zipper to a non-oem headliner that must have been installed ages ago.
