800hp hennesey modified CGT??

I don't know that I would trust the viper guy (that's had some really bad press) to touch my CGT (if I had one).

I wonder if that 2.7 sec, 0-60 time is realistic. Figure the kind of tire/wheel combo you'd need to keep that power on the ground.

What surprises me is why you would even want to mod one in the first place !!!!

Unmodified, the automobile has more than proven that it is WAY too much car for 99.9999999% of ALL drivers out there, and that percentage goes way up for the lucky few that are actually able to afford one !!!

There is always someone out there that wants more power. It's "I got the biggest D***" syndrome. No matter that he doesn't know how to use it- he is happy that he has it (and as long as it doesn't get unleashed in the wrong place we are all safe...
The car that is!

Wow, that is beyond sick. I think they should add a set of wings and see if she'll take flight.

I agree. Each to their own I guess but I would have a moral obligation to sit down with the customer prior to taking their money for an 800hp CGT and at least set them straight on the kind of trouble it could get them into...

I'd like to take that car out to the nasa emergency landing strip out here in the White sands test range and have some fun with it. The strip is flat asphault, 1/4 mile wide, 8 miles long. To feel the 800hp just once would be awesome.

Most cars have enough power to take flight. The trick is how to keep going fast when the wheels aren't on teh ground

Hhhmmmmm, a Cessna 172 or Piper Warrior lifts off at around 55 knots (about 63mph)... (I'm NOT sure of the basic weight)

A C-141 lifts off around 120 knots (138mph) around 200,000 lbs...

Yep, add a couple of wings & an elevator, she'll fly.....

It doesn't say they have a GT that has the twin turbo system on it. It just offers the kit. Look at the other kits for cars.

i would think they have developped the kit , and actually tried it

how on earth would they ever expect to sell that kit to a CGT owner?

dude , we have a kit , yeah, just bolt it on , it will go like stink , tried it ? nah mate ,we know what we're doing , we don't need to try anything... how much horsepower gain? aah we guestimate about 180 something more .... quit asking questions mate... just fork over the money ...

I'm not sure I'd give any of my cars to Hennessey.... sure, they *may* make it go fast, but then so can many others. They used to have horror stories about Hennessey Viper customers that wouldn't see their car for many many months, not have work done, etc. Horrible repertoire. Think MotorMeister.

It even made it into Road&Track etc.... they probably shaped up by now, but I'd be weary, esp. w/ a CGT. Plus, I don't think that they actually have one w/ the kit installed. Would *YOU* want to be that test dummy? (Sure, if Hennessey deposited a check in my account to cover factory install of a brand new motor )

I doubt Hennessey bought a 1/2 mil car just to develop $100K turbo kits for it. Then maybe, just maybe, he would be able to sell how many.... one? two? (How many people wanna cannibalize that car? A lo-tech Viper is one thing, a fully developed Porsche factory LeMans motor is another.) Yeah, right.... where do I drop off my CGT?

a) This is retarded
b) Hennessey has a terrible customer service rep as mentioned above
c) Gemballa makes one with 1000 hp (not that it's necessary by any stretch of the imagination). Why would the uber rich customer go with a Viper tuner?

I think Hennessey is in deep dispute with BMW M5 customers too. This seems to be a 6 figure lawsuit.
I would *never* let anyone with the smallest spec on their resume even look at my car

Jeez, after the CGT crash last week, I've really been thinking about how useless all of this type of speed and HP is. I've actually got new-found appreciation for my 'ol 1984 3.2! It may not rip the tires off of the rims, but it does go, and with a little finesse, it's a helluva capable car.

I was reading in Pano in which the author described his recent drive in a CGT. Stated he could light the rear wheels up at will in the first four gears!

How in the heck is another 180hp going to help that situation?

I don't see what the big deal is with a high horsepower car; don't some of the vintage Porsche collectors with 935's in their stable have this level of power?? It's not the car that gets into trouble, it's the driver.
The McLaren F1 is still the top speed king, would owning this car be considered irresposible?
j.p.
Ps. I'm sure if you were to take the GTC to Porsche AG with an unlimited budget, a few more ponies could be extracted.
