I have no knowledge the dealer. Judging by the pics alone, the car looks great! "Restored" doesn't mean restored to original though...RS flares, 8's & 7's, and that's just the beginning. Value? I'd say whatever somebody is willing to pay. Keep in mind a red '67 S recently sold on ebay for $26,999.... The red car fit my taste more than this one does..

Those guys are always overpriced....no offsight PPIs allowed. Most of the cars are consignment cars.

How can anyone one buy a car without an off site PPI ? what do they expect you to do? Take their word for everything?

About 5 years ago when I was living in Ventura, almost bought a clean pickup from them....I backed out because they wouldn't let me get it checked out off the lot...and they're very high priced on most of their vehicles. They've been around for 7-10 years if I remember correctly possibly longer...

Well that 67 was one of the cleanest and most "proper" restorations I have seen in a long time. Worth the money in my book. This one is a pretty, and "R Gruppe" looking car. But "restored" ???? I think not. The list of wrong stuff would not fit in this box! A very nice looking car, but I question that much money for a mutt.

Isn't this the one that was on ebay last month or a few months ago, then the guy put up a 74 with an RS motor?

This place has been around for a long time, they are right next to the 101, and I always wondered, what type of damage those cars got sitting next to a busy freeway.

California Cars is actually very close to me (about 5 miles down the 101), but from what I've seen the quality of their cars is lacking. This car may look nice in the pictures, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a piece of junk in person. Someone here in our office building just bought a C2 turbo from California Cars and it's an absolute piece of junk. Kurt B also bought his car from them and has been surprised by discovering certain things in it. I'm sure it's possible to walk away with a clean car from there, and this may be a nice car, but with no offsite PPIs allowed it really is a hit and miss deal.

Yeah, I've seen their site a few times - they seem to specialize in selling Porsches that have had questionable and/or non-period modifications at high prices. There's another place with the similar philosophy on the net, but I can't remember their name - all of their cars are (cheaply) modded to look like other models - 911Ts with turbo bodies, mid-70s 2.7s with Carrera RS kits, SC with 964 and 993 bodykits. As they said on Hills Street Blues, "Be careful out there."

No off site PPI's allowed? Hmmm...I wonder what their reaction would be if an "interested buyer" arrived? Somebody willing to pay a wrench with the skills of Tyson for his time? Arrive in a pickup truck, the bed of which contains a high lift floor jack, jackstands, a tool box full of test equipment, including electronics, leak down, compression, etc. I'm betting the sales staff would freak enough to make it a good TV documentary. As in, "Hi, we're from 60 minutes...want to talk a few minutes, on camera?"

I've been there once or twice, and they did say you could put the car up on their lift. now if you showed up with a full set of tools and said you wanted to do leakdown, compressions, etc, it might make for an intersting time.

Just like the polo red 67S

You are right 1973911s, that car was for sale on ebay a few months ago...I think he had it up for auction three times... the guy had a five bay garage and a white 74 peeking out of the last bay.

There was a brief discussion about it on the early s registry. One of the members knew the seller and he was quite credible about his cars. The ebay discription regarding the restoration and pics were awsome.

It would appear the seller chose a different route to move the car, regardless, I doubt that dealerships reputation reflects the condition of that particular p car...if it is the same one, sure looks it.

Shawn.

You (or someone in the know) could do a visual inspection for authenticity, then pay the hourly rate for their workshop to do a compression test etc, and to give you a written copy. That should be enough to make a judgement if you are keen. Plus if the written appraisal turns out not to be correct after you have bought the car, sue them.

If anyone is going to spend that kind of money ($34,900 asking) for a non correct car why not go for a nice 73 RS clone? I remember seeing a few advertised for $30-35 a couple of months ago...

Just found this one in the classifieds:

good point

I remember not so many months ago calling a guy in Oregon about a 68 vintage 2.0 liter race car that he represented for sale. He explained to me that they recieved confirmation of the sale the day before.

Enjoy your car Mark, I was right on your heels. Maybe I will be again some day.

Shawn.

Just to let everyone out there know just how sweet Marks car is here is an example of the competion. There is no way this car comes close to the #808 hot rod.

Love your car and what you have done with it, Shawn.

Of course, none of these acars will or ever have sold for more than 15-17K because that is all they are worth according to B.A. How many more 67 "S" cars have to sell for 28-35K before it reflects in his pricing. I always have to laugh when I see one of these high dollar "S"s in his market report. He always says "well, this is an exceptional car". As if any early "S in perfect condition wouldnt be considered to be exceptional.
