Ignition key cover plate thickness?

My current ignition key cover plate the threaded part protrudes from the back as much as the plate is thick. The new one I bought maybe ten years ago was nearly flush so i couldnt thread it on the barrel. I dont recall the brand this was atleast ten years ago I think i returned it. I would still like to find a new one that works like the old one If anyone knows of one like I have. Maybe i need to shim out the ignition switch it does seem a little loose in there anyway. Would that be a difficult job or even possible?

Whats the difference in length of threaded part? I added the aluminum Rennline dash kit and now my plate does not reach the threads on ignition.

the rosette has changed throughout the years..1969-1973 had different type ,after you have the rosette with longer threads and in mid 1986 it came to short thread types..I have some of my lockshields you can see the difference.

on left the rosette would be very thick for middle 1974-86 is the type with longer thread and later shorter..
the last picture is rosette from 1985 and the silver prototype has the type of length of the rosette for 1974-85..models
