Difference between L & R door latches
Any idea why there is difference between the left and right door latches.

I think it is to prevent you accidentally locking yourself out.

Yes, I just noticed this the other day when I was cleaning both of my latch mechanisms up. It definitely has something to do with locking the door in a manner that is different so you don't lock yourself out. I was not able to fully install mine back in to check exactly what this means, but if my memory serves me correctly if you get out of the car and manually lock the door using the knob on the inside, then when you close it you have to hold the trigger on the outside door handle in, otherwise the inside knob will pop back up, unlocking the door...
Can anyone confirm this? |
Yep. I had to fix both my locks as the tabs were bent over the years. I did a whole write up on it. The driver side has an anti lockout feature. I imagine RWD to have the same but backwards.

I'm contemplating removing that feature, any reasons why I should not. This is a toy and I never lock my doors anyways
