In place of the standard valve springs? Or some other use?

Michael Mount uses his own variation of bee hive springs on the "built " 944 heads he prepares , supposedly with great success !

Back when I was into LS engines, many builders used beehive springs because they served as a self-backup. However, my engine builder thought they were a waste of resource because there was no way to detect a broken spring without disassembling and directly examining the springs. So in the end there was no replacement for regular inspections. He believes beehives just added unnecessary weight and complexity.

Beehive springs are used in place of duel springs. They are lighter, less complex, and it is easy to tell if one is broken.

I think you have that backward. LS engines came with beehives from the factory. They're lighter, less complex, and any nasty valve spring harmonics are GONE. I chose springs manufactured by PSI because I've never seen one of their springs break. Ever.
