Rear Center Reflector Installation

I read a bunch of old threads where people had issues with removing and/or installing a Porsche rear center reflector. I knew I was going to be replacing mine when I repainted my SC, so I tried to be as prepared as possible "when the day came".

I decided to repaint my car at the beginning of the year, I ordered all my parts and then thought more about how I was going to mount the new reflector. I could install the new one with the OEM Porsche clips, but I also know that is mostly a one-way trip and will frequently result in damaged plastic bosses or worse yet, a broken reflector. I wanted to come up with an installation solution that could allow easier removal and less likely to break the expensive reflector.

So, I came up with an idea where I would use standoff collars, fender washers and nylock nuts. It worked just as well as I had hoped, figured I'd show and share here to help others that may face this issue and possibly others will chime in with even better solutions.

Original OEM Porsche clip that I didn't want to use.

1"x1/2"x1/2" Aluminum Collar (Amazon), M4 20mm SS Fender Washer, and M4 Nylock Nut

Nice job. I did something similar when I replaced my reflector after cracking the old one during removal for paint. Those OEM clips are a nightmare!

That's really nice, the clips really are terrible. Good idea and thank you!

Nicely done! After removing two of these recently I was thinking "there has to be a better way", and seems you found it.
