AAR Adjustment screw?

Hi,
Pulled off the aar to see what a previous owner had done with an adjustment screw. I know it opens and closes over temperature but the opening is suspect as too small and a previous owner was compensating for a quickly heating version or some other leak? Don't know. Also, Tony says the 140/209 is the wrong code for a 1981 sc usa, this one is the 17 Ohm version, should be 34 Ohm or thereabouts version?

Anyone see this before?

Phil

Turning the screw does nothing it would seem, though I didn't back it out all the way.

Maybe the previous owner wanted to pull out the cap?

Tapping the plug on the other side in further restricts the opening. If you tap that in too far, you need to get the cap off that the screw is mounted into, to tap the plug back out. This looks like an attempt to do that by pulling on the screw with a vice.

I read your PM. The screw on the AAR is used to pull the cover or plug out. Turning the screw would do nothing at all. If you are interested in making your AAR adjustable, let me know. I have done a few conversions and have some pictures to share.

Thanks Tony, SkiVT.

I just put it back in the car, it does what it's supposed to do basically, it would be nice if it stayed open a little longer, but it's just not worth it. From room temp to closed in 2min checked today, I have written from an earlier time from freezer to closed in around 4 min.
