Sunroof Hits Body When Closing

Hi Everyone,

I have a 1975 911S Coupe and when I bought the car the sunroof didn't work. I fixed the motor and replaced the guide tubes along with the cables and guide rails. Now the sunroof opens and closes but when I go to close the sunroof, the sunroof hits the body like the front of the sunroof is too low. The only way to close the sunroof is to push it up while it is closing. Could I be missing a part or something or could the guide that connects the sunroof to the rail be too worn out? There are these adjustable spacers in between the guides and the sunroof and I have adjusted them to the max and the roof is still too low.

Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Alex

Did you engage the small diameter pins that stick out laterally from each cable, to the swinging spring clips? Did you replace the white rectangular pop in plastic slides that attach to the bottom of the forward edge of the painted panel?
Did you screw down the nuts that support the lateral cable supports? Those adjust the roof angle

I engaged the small diameter pins that stick out laterally from each cable, to the swinging spring clips. I did not replace the white rectangular pop in plastic slides that attach to the bottom of the forward edge of the painted panel but they looked fine to me could they really be the problem?

I did screw down the nuts that support the lateral cable supports but do I need to adjust them?

I will post some pictures tonight to show you what I am dealing with.

Make sure the pivoting parts of the raising mechanism are screwed tightly enough to keep them engaged but not so tight as to bind and keep them from pivoting.

You may have to shim between the screws and the panel to raise up the front edge.
